On December 14, 2023, Ambassador Zhang Jianwei met with all members of the 23rd China Medical Team to Kuwait who are about to finish their tenure. Hu Hanming, Economic and Commercial Counselor of the Chinese Embassy, was present during the visit.

Kuwait is the only GCC country where a China medical team is stationed, Ambassador Zhang said, adding that the program of dispatching a China medical team to the country is an important part of our joint efforts to build a global community of health for all. This year marks the 60th anniversary of China sending medical teams abroad. It is also the 47th year that China has dispatched a medical team to Kuwait. He praised the medical expertise and warm services of all members, saying that they have always lived up to the team’s reputation as a force that never flinches in adversity and dedicates itself to saving lives with compassion and love. They also worked actively to promote TCM ideas and Chinese culture, making positive contributions to closer bonds between the two peoples.

The team members expressed their gratitude to the Chinese Embassy for giving the medical team constant care, guidance and assistance, saying that they all feel proud and privileged to contribute their share to the growth of China-Kuwait relations and that they will always bear in mind the team’s motto and work to live up to its reputation.
