On January 28, 2024, Ambassador Zhang Jianwei met with Director of Kuwait University’s Center for Gulf and Arabian Peninsula Studies (CGAPS) Dr. Yacoub Al-Kandari. They exchanged their opinions on people-to-people and cultural exchanges and cooperation between the two nations. Member of the Consultative Commission of the Supreme Council of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) Dr. Haila Hamad Al-Makimi, former MP Nasser and other members of the center were present at the meeting.

Ambassador Zhang highly praised CGAPS’s active role in fostering academic exchanges between the two countries and enhancing mutual understanding between the two peoples. He said the Chinese Embassy will cooperate actively with the center in boosting exchanges between our think tanks and presenting an accurate, multidimensional and panoramic image of China to the Kuwaiti people. Together we will bring our two peoples closer.

Yacoub spoke highly of friendly ties between Kuwait and China and the remarkable development achievements of China. He said the center will maintain close communication with the Chinese Embassy in Kuwait and continue to strengthen its studies on China, serving as the bridge for improving the understanding of Kuwaiti people about China and deepening the traditional friendship between the two nations.

Ambassador Zhang briefed others on China’s economic and social development and its experience in governance when responding to a question.
