On 20th April 2021, Ambassador Li Minggang, at the invitation of His Excellency Mr. Abdul Rahman Al-Mutairi, Kuwaiti Minister of Information and Culture and Minister of State for Youth Affairs, led a group of young diplomats of the Embassy to Al-Shamiya Youth Center to exchange with the Kuwaiti youths, followed by a tree-planting activity.
Ambassador Li first toured the Center’s green ecological garden, and listened carefully to the introduction provided by Fahd Al-Khurainj, Director of the Youth Centers Department at the Kuwaiti Public Authority for Youth, and staff members of Al-Shamiya Youth Center. Li expressed his pleasure at seeing the plants in the garden growing well under the care of the staff and the young Kuwaiti volunteers, which makes a desert oasis. The Chinese side is keen to work with the Kuwaiti counterparts towards achieving green development in order to protect our common home.
Ambassador Li and the Kuwaiti youths then planted a “Tree of Friendship between Chinese and Kuwaiti Youths”. Li said that the ever-growing friendship between the two countries over the past half century is based on the continuous efforts made by the two peoples. Youth represent future and hope. Promoting exchanges and enhancing understanding between young people of both countries are of great significance in carrying forward China-Kuwait friendship. Li expressed his hope to take the 50th anniversary of China-Kuwait diplomatic relations as an opportunity to continue deepening exchanges and mutual learning between the young generation of both countries to carry forward China-Kuwait friendship and cooperation.
In turn, the Center’s staff warmly welcomed Ambassador Li as the first ambassador visiting the Center. Fahd said he was pleased to hold such a meaningful event with the Chinese Embassy, affirming his readiness to work with the Chinese counterparts hand in hand to create more opportunities and favorable conditions for exchanges and mutual visits between the youths of both countries, so as to continuously inject new impetus to the development of China-Kuwait relations.
